Natural Hair Color Care: Post Color Regimen for Colored Natural Hair

Hey Curls,

As promised, this is what I provide my clients after they receive natural hair color service. Another thing to think about not listed below is doing an Olaplex Treatment every 12 weeks or 3 months. This is not a protein treatment but a bond reconstructing treatment that rebuilds any broken bonds during the coloring process. Ask your stylist about this one. I make a point to do this through out the color process.
Please know that the purpose of altering your regimen with colored natural hair is to ensure the following:
  • preserve hair color and stop fading (note: hair color fades in the sun)
  • pack moisture back into the hair
  • soften the hair
  • brighten highlights
  • counteract brassiness or ashiness
  • enhance existing color

RECOMMENDED COLOR CARE FOR NATURAL HAIR BY EMBRACE HAIR ART
COLOR CARE TIPS
  • DO A DEEP CONDITION AND/OR PROTEIN TREATMENT BEFORE YOUR COLOR SERVICE (THESE ARE ADD ON SERVICES THAT CAN BE DONE IN THE SALON OR AT HOME)
  • GET REGULAR TRIMS (6-8 WEEKS) TO DECREASE SPLIT ENDS
  • STICK TO MINIMAL OR HEAT AVOIDANCE
  • MOISTURIZE DAILY WITH WATER/OIL/CONDITIONER IN SPRAY BOTTLE, A MOISTURIZING LEAVE IN CONDITIONER OR WATER BASED MOISTURIZER
  • USE SULFATE FREE CLEANSERS AND CONDITIONERS
  • BLONDE HAIR CARE (VIOLET SHAMPOOS LIKE BLONDE SEXY HAIR HELP ALLEVIATE BRASSINESS)
  • STICK TO A WEEKLY CLEANSING REGIMEN (SHAMPOO + CONDITION)

I like what you said about getting trims every 6 weeks. I don't think I have gotten a haircut in 6 months. I'll have to go to a hair salon once COVID allows for it.

Thanks for pointing out that we have to moisturize our hair daily with water, oil, and conditioner. I will keep that in mind to make my hair healthy for my wedding day to achieve the hairstyle that I want. I will first look for a hair along with that I can trust to get the advice of a professional as well.

I want to make sure that I put my hair together, but I don't know how to handle it. It makes sense that I would want to get a professional to help me out with this. I can see how a good hair dresser would be able to help me put it together properly.

I loved it when you said this is not a protein treatment but a bond reconstructing treatment that rebuilds any broken bonds during the coloring process. My sister mentioned to me yesterday that she wants a different color for her hair. I will share this post for her to have an idea of where to get hair color correction in her area.
