Embrace the Natural You was founded in 2012 by Genevieve Anyiah, a Mom of 3, and a Detroit born Naturalista who literally chopped off all of her long hair in April 2012, due to severe heat damage,  and strolled into work (a chemical company) as a new woman! Who knew the road to discovering herself on her natural hair journey would be so awesome two big chops later!

Embrace the Natural You began as just a blog  in 2012 to share natural hair tips, tutorials, and product reviews for friends who wondered what the secret to Genevieve's post big chop hair growth was!  Genevieve also struggled with ezcema of the skin, a skin disorder, characterized by dry skin and red itchy, scaly, or cracked patches. In 2013, Genevieve's second child and newborn daughter was diagnosed with ezcema too but of the scalp and skin, and so many products on the market just irritated her scalp and dried her skin. She used knowledge from books, the library, the internet, and her years of personal experience as part of the financial team (supporting research and development formulators) of a chemical company, to learn how to formulate hair and skin care products with purely natural and organic ingredients to help treat the ezcema.  Genevieve's obsession with finding the perfect blends of carrier oils, essential oils, butters, emollients, humectants soon became a booming business as many friends and family began to purchase her products for their skin and hair.

​Since 2012, Genevieve has been a keynote speaker at various natural hair events, featured on the local news, and featured in various publications,  sharing her knowledge of natural hair care. She also became a Licensed Cosmetologist and Natural Hair Cultivist in the State of Michigan and exclusively uses Embrace the Natural You products on her clients at the Embrace Hair Art Studio in Royal Oak, MI. Embrace hair care products were previously carried in various health food stores, salon, and specialty stores throughout the United States, however, in 2018, it was decided to operate online as more customers order directly from the website. Embrace the Natural You's handmade products were specifically made for curls, kinks, and coils. With a background in product costing and formulation model building, Genevieve chose each and every ingredient and worked with a team of testers consisting of family and friends to get the formulas just right! These products are sulfate free and paraben free as all of the products listed on this site. There are no artificial colors, fillers, or unnecessary ingredients which makes our line kid friendly.
